Environmental Education
Help bats reach everyone
The Morcegos.pt Association considers environmental education one of its main tools for protecting bats and promoting a more harmonious relationship between people and nature. We believe that only through knowledge, empathy, and direct involvement will it be possible to ensure the conservation of these extraordinary and often misunderstood animals.
Despite their fundamental role in ecosystems — in insect control, forest regeneration, and maintaining biodiversity — bats continue to be the target of myths, unfounded fears, and negative attitudes. That’s why we work to inform, demystify, and spark curiosity.

Our environmental education activities include:
-
Sessions in schools and universities
Educational and playful activities tailored to different learning levels, featuring presentations, games, and interactive resources. -
Field trips and night-time observation
Immersive experiences to discover bats in their natural habitat, using ultrasound detectors and guided by specialists. -
Workshops, lectures, and technical trainingEvents aimed at teachers, professionals, students, and the general public, focusing on bat biology, conservation, and monitoring.
-
Thematic exhibitions and public campaigns
Traveling displays, visual communication materials, and awareness initiatives at fairs, science centers, and public venues. -
Production of educational materials
Guides, activity sheets, videos, games, and other accessible resources to support educators and spark interest in bats.

Training today the nature defenders of tomorrow
By investing in environmental education, we sow the values of respect, curiosity, and ecological responsibility. We invite schools, municipalities, educational centers, and citizens to take part in our activities and bring bats into their classrooms, communities, and local projects.
